 LEADCORE LEADERS & LEADCORE LEADER ACTION
Love it or hate it Leadcore has a place in modern day carp fishing. It has
attracted a lot of negative press mainly though its misuse rather than the
product itself, this is usually the case when a product gets bad press,
nothing is invincible. One thing we avoided when making our own ready
spliced leaders was to make them very long, I have heard of anglers using 15
feet of Leadcore, how they cast it I don't know but imagine if the line
breaks above the Leadcore, that fish will have 15 feet of lead wire dragging
around behind it. If you coil it up what will it weigh? An ounce maybe! Now
would you use a rig that had one ounce of lead permanently fixed to the
hooklength swivel. No of course not but because it is disguised as 15 feet
of thick line its forgotten about. I have used long lengths myself when
boating out baits to far margins when the water gets very deep in between
with the idea of pinning the last 10 feet or so on the bottom, it worked
really well but once I thought about how would the fish get rid of it I
stopped doing it. For this reason we do not sell Leadcore on spools, we feel
we have an obligation to reduce the risk of fish damage as much as possible
so we sell ready spliced leaders which are 30" (75cm) long, this is more
than enough as an anti tangle device and keeps the last few feet of line on
the bottom. Our Leadcore leaders have three layers to them, a lead wire core
with a coloured Dacron sheath around it (this gives it the colour) with a
smoky nylon weave around that for durability and abrasion resistance. They
are double spliced; by this I mean both the Dacron inner and nylon outer are
spliced at the same time making them much stronger than splicing the nylon
outer alone which is what all the competition does. They come in weedy green
and muddy brown to match the rig tubes, see TUBING for camouflage guidelines
and what colours work best where. They can also be bought as a complete lead
clip system called a Leadcore Leader action pack, simply hook on your lead
and attach your hooklink and your angling.
HOW TO ATTACH Simply follow the instructions on the inside of the
packing, we have put them onto this site so check out the slide show on the
right hand side of the page, basically if you can tie the line to the eye of
a swivel then you can tie it to the top of a Leadcore leader. The hooklink
swivel is best lassoed on, the drawing will explain how, if you use a lead
clip lasso the leader around the neck of the swivel so that it will pull
fully inside the clip until it clicks.

Like all our products the Shock leader Sleeve puts fish safety as top
priority. Korda have designed this sleeve to make your inline rig as
anti-tangle and fish friendly as possible when using shock leaders.
If the line breaks, the lead pulls free and slides down the line easily
passing over the leader knot. Once the lead is off fish find it easier to
get rid of the hook.
