When we discovered the new off-set carbon cloth we were very excited, but
the original blanks were thick and unresponsive. Long term testing by Colin
Davidson produced a blank that he was delighted with, so much so that he
wouldn't give them back! Yet, it wasn't until we married this up with the
incredibly light SLIM rings that the rods came together and exceeded all our
expectations!The MAXIMISER range are built using an incredibly strong
blend of high modulus carbon cloths to create an extremely thin, yet
responsive blank. The hoop strength of the blank has been significantly
increased by the use of off-set woven fibres. If you look closely at the
blank you will notice that the carbon weave pattern is off-set by 90
degrees. This creates an overlapping pattern, with each row reinforcing
those either side of it. The result is an incredibly strong blank that can
withstand the rigours of modern carp fishing. So confident are we in the
quality of these blanks that they are covered by the Wychwood life-time
guarantee.
All Wychwood SPD rods feature the fantastic SLIM rings, that are not only
significantly lighter than standard SiC's but also have a narrower profile,
reducing line contact. We think that this is a significant step forward in
carp rod design, creating rods with even high test curves that are light,
response and incredibly well balanced
The MAXIMISER feature abbreviated medium density Duplon handles with a
contoured lower grip for extra comfort and light-weight size 20 (big enough
to take all big pit reels) screw reel fittings. Minimalist stainless
fittings complement the rod perfectly giving it a classy, yet understated
look
Not all carp anglers prefer the same ring spacings and handle
configurations on their rods, so the MAXIMISER range are also available as
blanks for custom building.
